A Place of Tranquillity Then
What does Jávri Lodge have to do with a man who served as President of the Republic of Finland between 1956 and 1982? A lot happened during those years both in terms of domestic politics within Finland and the changing relationships between East and West. The story of our lodge is not a story about politics, however. Indeed, the lodge had its origins in the President’s need and desire to escape the pressures of politics: to find time and a place to relax and be at one with his country’s finest environment.
A Place of Tranquillity Now
When Juha, Jávri Lodge’s charistmatic owner, took over the lodge in 2015, his dream was to create a place where guests could come and find their own peace, and be at one with Finland’s great wilderness.
In 2017, Jávri underwent a major renovation and extension project – think Grand Designs meets Scandi chic – to create a property where modern architecture merges almost seamlessly with traditional design. Ecological and sustainable values were at the heart of the renovations, from the geothermal heating and water systems to the incredible flooring made of recycled plastic, the local materials used throughout the build, and the provenance of the ingredients used by the chefs. It’s uncompromising luxury, but with an environmental conscience.

Our Team
Jávri is a family-run hotel. You will meet Tarja and Juha and the Jávri team druing your stay. The Jávri team is made up of friends with a shared passion and shared goals: to provide a unique and special experience for guests, a place to reconnect with themselves, and with their nearest and dearest. They do this through the provision of a unique, luxurious and tranquil home-away-from-home, facilitating the most incredible Arctic adventures, serving the most exquisite food, and providing one-step-ahead-of-you service.

Jávri Lodge is located in Saariselkä, less than 30 minutes from Ivalo (IVL) airport and approximately 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle in the heart of Finnish Lapland. The Urho Kekkonen National Park, the second-largest protected natural park in Finland, is just minutes away from the property.

WHAT´S NEW IN JÁVRI 2025
A new high-quality Jávri Wilderness Lodge is being built in Saariselkä. The lodge offers our customers the opportunity to spend the night in the middle of nature in their own peace. Jávri Wilderness Lodge is a separate accommodation building that Jávri guests can book for one night or for a longer stay. It´s a perfect high standard lodge for special guest who want to experience the Arctic nature in a safe and private way.
